GNBK Advisory Pty Ltd was founded in 2014 by Gordon Noble as a specialist advisory firm working with investors, governments and communities to deliver sustainable solutions for complex challenges.
Commencing his career in the Australian banking sector, Gordon became a trade union official at the Finance Sector Union of Australia before working in the United Kingdom for UK trade union MSF (now Unite). Returning to Australia, Gordon worked as a policy adviser for the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party before moving to the superannuation sector with industry superannuation fund Cbus. Working for the Secretariat of the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment Gordon was responsible for conceiving and delivering the Responsible Investment Academy which is now the PRI Academy in order to provide institutional investors with training on environment, social and governance (ESG) integration.
Gordon headed up the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia’s government relations and investment functions and was responsible for leading ASFA’s advocacy for increasing the superannuation guarantee. As head of policy and advocacy at the Australian Sustainable Finance Initiative Gordon co-authored the Australian Sustainable Finance Roadmap. Gordon is a Partnership Manager with the Institute for Sustainable Futures at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) where he is developing the Institute’s sustainable finance capabilities. His research work has included authoring a discussion paper for the International Institute for Sustainable Development on Universal Infrastructure Coverage (2021), chapters in the Cambridge Handbook of Institutional Investment and Fiduciary Duty (2014), Palgrave Studies in Sustainable Business’ Sustainable Real Estate (2019) and the Palgrave Handbook of Climate Resilient Societies (2021) and research papers for the John Grill Centre for Project Leadership at the University of Sydney. Gordon holds a Bachelor of Economics from Australian National University (ANU), Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance and Investment and Graduate Diploma in Industrial and Employee Relations.
